On Sunday, November 17, more than 300 people from diverse nationalities and backgrounds gathered for another special ALF BBQ. This ALF BBQ was the first heading into the summer season and was focused around celebrating our youth and fostering understanding.
After a very classic Melbourne weather change from warm, sunny to rain and then back to warm and sunny, the atmosphere was vibrant, with people of all ages coming together to enjoy a delicious meal prepared with care by dedicated volunteers. The menu was as brilliant as ever with an assortment of high quality meats and sweets.
Laughter, conversation and togetherness filled the air as connections were strengthened and further memories were made. The children were as happy as ever as they bounced and played on the jumping castle, their joy spreading throughout the event and bringing smiles to everyone’s faces. It was a true celebration of togetherness, where every generation found a place to connect and belong. The focus of the BBQ, the Youth really connected with others, with those aged 12-22 really finding their place and feeling accepted amongst their community and wider society.
This day was more than just a BBQ—it was a beautiful reminder of the power of community and the importance of creating spaces where everyone feels welcome and valued.
