Over 500 people from different backgrounds and walks of life all came together on Saturday 08 March to break their fast all together with the iftar program provided by the Australia Light Foundation.
Crowds were forming at the closed doors whilst the inside of the ALF Reception space was being prepared by our wonderful ALF volunteers. Once the doors opened, in 2-4 minutes all the tables were full with over 20 minutes still to go!
During this time people mingled with their other brothers and sisters from their community, speaking of the day and how Ramadan was progressing. The plates of delicious food were also being served by the young guns of ALF who worked tirelessly till everyone had their food, a plate of the finest kavurma, peas, mash potato and the classic mercimek soup.
ALF would like to thank personally each and every volunteer who helped prepare, serve and cook the iftaar dinner for all members of the community to enjoy. It was truly a wonderful evening of togetherness, community and social cohesion. We would like to thank all donors who contributed to hosting this beautiful iftaar.
ALF would also like to say a second thank you to our wonderful ALF Ladies who made yet another beautiful iftaar dish whilst fasting. We can not thank you enough.
We look forward to our iftaar event next week where we will be even having some special guests from local communities and councils!
