ALF Wednesday Night Dinner - The Adil Usta Special

We were back for a very special Wednesday Night Dinner this week at the Australian Light Foundation, made extra memorable by the return of our beloved long-time head chef, Adil Gunceler.

After some time away from the ALF kitchen, Chef Adil was back from retirement in full form, preparing his famous pide and lahmacuns for the community once again without missing a beat.

The delicious variety of cheese, meat, and spinach pides alongside freshly baked lahmacuns brought smiles to everyone’s faces—and filled the room with that truly beautiful smell of Turkish pide and tradition.

With over 35 attendees, ranging from youth to elders, the evening was a true reflection of ALF and our community spirit, warmth, and brotherhood. The food was enjoyed in great company, with plenty of conversation, laughter, and heartfelt moments shared around the table. Attendees also stayed back to enjoy a classic Turkish tea playing billiards or Dama, enjoying the post dinner moments.

We would like to give a special mention and thanks to all volunteers on the night from preparation to cleaning, specially to our Head Chef Adil Usta in all his efforts.

We would like to also give a special mention to Serhat Yavuz for obtaining the title of Apprentice Pide Maker and his efforts in preparing the Pide.

We can’t wait to see you at the next Wednesday Night Dinner at ALF!
